00 satellite images of beaches and land reclamation in action from former British colonies were fed into a GAN (generative adversarial network). A video and images were generated from the model. These images speculate on the land reclamation activities in the name of urban and economic re/development undertaken globally. Such developments tend to be driven by mechanical and logical needs of more land and better economy; created by cold processes of crunching numbers, planning policies, urban planning regulations and zoning plans. Economic development is often paramount to any aesthetic decisions. Often times reclamation ignores the current landforms and creates a new tabula rasa seafront. Reclamation creates a new, tabula rasa future, but at what cost to history, subverting and subsuming it under new layers of land and narratives?
