Artwork 1 Details :

Digital image The Sacred Sound project presents a visual discussion of trees’ ability to communicate through mycorrhizal fungi networks. Like most plants, trees have symbiotic relationships with the fungi that live on their roots. The mycorrhizal network functions on a huge scale and has been likened to an underground internet that connects entire forests. Using narrative techniques, the project tells a story that reflects alienation and a resulting return to contact, communication, and understanding. Alternative storylines are explored through one main video piece and a series of offshoot digital pieces. The digital images were produced in a 3d program and their material is partly produced using ai {Midjourney}. The combination of current technology and the idea of nature communicating through vast underground networks brings us to a possible point that separates us from the singularity.

Artist/ Collective Bio:

Andrea Mikyska graduated from The Academy of Arts, Architecture, and Design in Prague with a master's degree in Supermedia. In her practice, Andrea explores how digital simulations can be used to create alternative and speculative realities and their technological, ecological, and cultural implications. Her work addresses links between environmental grief and digital technologies, primarily using 3D programs as a method of mediation. She is currently developing knowledge and skills in VR and AR to expand her inquisitive toolkit and allow her to construct new narrative environments in larger-scale virtual and real-world domains.
